A little about my experience

In terms of experience, I began my career as an intern for LaSalle University (2012). I worked for them as a web & Graphic Designer right up until my graduation in 2013. After finishing my B.A, I started freelancing & continued my career in higher education. I landed a Web Communications Assistant position with Stockton University (2014). This role was part time which allowed me to freelance on the side for my own company, Rivera Projects, LLC. I was with Stockton into 2015 year prior to finding full time work.

Currently I am working for Hi-Tec Systems, Inc. as their Web Developer. I am a full time employee of Hi-Tec serving the Federal Aviation Administration. With school and full time work, I slowly stopped freelancing with the exception of minor projects.

As the Web Developer my daily goals are to update and manage several of the FAA's websites while also supporting ongoing project work from other Programmers & Computer Scientists. The primary skills that will be used on a daily basis are: mySQL, ColdFusion, HTML(4/5), CSS3, FTP(WinSCP & FileZilla), JavaScript, Markdown, Lektor Static Site Generation, BitBucket, and Git. The primary applications that are used to develop are Brackets, NotePad++ and Dreamweaver. I am challenged with managing the Front End as well as the Back End of all website projects. Day-to-day developer duties include:

  1. Object oriented analysis, design, and implementation of .NET applications including client/server, web based and n-tier applications
  2. Unit integration, system testing and debugging of applications.
  3. Database, image processing, and GUI development.
  4. User Interface Development for Aviation Programs and Systems with other project support from a UX, UI and Front End Standpoint.
  5. Knowledge and experience with JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
  6. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  7. Knowledge and working experience with SharePoint and SharePoint Designer.
  8. Knowledge of Git Repositories and Version Control
  9. Knowledge of Static Site Generation using Lektor
  10. Knowledge and implementation and management of issue tracking using bitbucket
  11. Setting up and managing local test environments including ColdFusion server
  12. Knowledge of ColdFusion admin panel including troubleshooting issues using logs
  13. Using the bootstrap framework in conjunction with server side languages (PHP & ColdFusion)
  14. Other notable skills include: Multitasking, Working Independently, Time Management, Code Debugging (Firebug and Google Inspect Element), Cross Browser Compatibility, and Project Management.

As the owner of a small business my goal is to provide the best web design practices while including the convenience of training my clients for future self management. WordPress is used for all my clients while basic HTML practices are taught to them. As a consultant I make sure my clients understand and learn more about Web Design so they can understand and comprehend future needs. Day-to-day duties include:

  1. Managing all accounting software and continuously maintaining balanced books. Quickbooks is used for expenses, sales receipts, transactions, etc.

The role of the Web Designer is to design, upkeep and maintain functionality of all the client microsites. I am tasked with using beautiful design as well as creating a great user experience for each end user to learn and enroll in their benefits. It is critical that I collaborate with the communications department and Graphic Designer to provide the best online experience. Day-to-day duties include:

  1. Managing, analyzing and providing daily updates, website hits and encounters via Google Analytics.
  2. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, and Twitter Bootstrap.
  3. Expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and InDesign.

As the assistant to the Web Communications department, my role is to assist with daily implementation and upkeep of the Website. I am also tasked with concept and creation of new content as related to the Web. in addition it is my role to help upkeep, manage, and improve the web based on the standards that the company upholds. I am also challenged with editing and managing the website and its content through its content management system, eyos. Furthermore, I worked under the Associate Director of Web Communications and performed tasks and research to help the web presence of the Stockton Website

Web / Graphic Design Internship (Part Time)

The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and designing all of the posters, flyers, t-shirts, banners and logos for all of the activity clubs that are offered at La Salle University. As a Web Developer I am responsible for creating, managing, maintaining, and teaching respective organizations how to use their club activity website. WordPress is primarily used, while there is still CSS and HTML required. Furthermore, I worked under the Associate Director of Administrative Services and performed tasks and research to help the web presence of the LaSalle Website
